A Universe Like an Ocean
The Physical Realm is one of two planes born from the Mysts. It is an expansive universe, vast beyond reckoning, with a near-infinite number of planets, moons, and celestial bodies. But it is not the empty vacuum that one might expect. The Physical Realm is more like an ocean. The space between worlds is dense, fluid, and teeming with life in its own right.
Gaseous Clouds
Planets and other celestial bodies drift within enormous gaseous clouds, regions of breathable or near-breathable atmosphere that stretch across vast distances. Within a cloud, travel between worlds is relatively common and accessible. Communities trade, cultures intermingle, and stories pass freely from one world to the next. The clouds are where civilizations flourish.
The Deep Between
Travel between gaseous clouds is another matter entirely. The space outside the clouds is dense, heavy, and without conventional gravity. Moving through it has been compared to swimming through deep water, slow, disorienting, and requiring preparation and skill. Vessels designed for cloud travel are often inadequate for crossing the Deep Between, and many communities have little knowledge of what lies beyond their own cloud.
