Mato

Mato

Writing is a relatively new invention on Mycorzha, and while pictoglyphs are in common usage, and letters and messages are beginning to flow across the Isles, tales and histories and wisdom have been passed down by word of mouth for generations. This vast oral history is kept by many across the land, but there are those few who are noted as particular keepers of these tales, by dint of passion, age, or simply having an excellent memory. Mato, known as the Lorekeeper by many of the bands that range through central Mycorzha, combines all of these traits. Possessed of a photographic memory and a passionate dedication to the oral traditions of his home, this jackalope knows more tales than most have forgotten.

Myra

Myra

Perhaps once in every several generations, there is a member of the Mycorzhan bird clans that exhibits powers beyond what the residents of the Isles fully understand. Able to summon clouds and lightning to their command, those few across the seasons who have demonstrated such power have come to be known by the colloquial name of “thunderbirds”, given both their abilities and the influence they typically have over the course of their clans and tribes. Whether through natural talent, or merely by dint of being so visibly “chosen” by the Isles, most thunderbirds become leaders and elders, shouldering the weight of responsibility and stepping up to guide the path of countless others in their charge. Myra just wants to run

Winona

Winona

From the time she was a young pup, Winona was pulled into a rich tapestry of family life. Parents and grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles; infants and children and adult and elderly. It felt like everyone that she knew in her entire life was all part of a single family, and there was always a sibling or a parent or an uncle to turn to. Winona adored it, falling right in with her extended family in the complex cliff-side group of dwellings where they all worked and lived. It was more than just their family of course - a few dozen families all lived within the stone, or in small dwellings or burrows at the foot of the cliff. Most of the latter cultivated various types of cotton and yucca - plants by which Winona’s family made their name as weavers. Whether sitting around a fire in the evenings, or gossiping with friends and relatives during noonday reprieves, Winona can scarce recall a time in her childhood not spent with a spindle or carding brush in her paws.

Poe, Lars, & Ise

Poe, Lars, & Ise

Anyone who talks about the wisdom of owls might be taken aback by Poe, Lars, and Ise, the squabbling triplet potters of the Sun Dried Sands. The trio, all hatched from the same clutch mere moments apart, are in a constant game of one-upbirdship with each other, especially when it comes to their mutual skill and artistry as some of the finest craftsfolk of the Mycorzhan south. All three work with clay and quartz, although how best to use these materials in their craft has been the source of so many of their arguments, that at this point many of their neighbors wonder whether they even enjoy the making of glass and pottery, or if it has all been merely a way to show up their siblings. Of course, as any twin or triplet might know themselves, the constant back and forth sniping hides a deep, inseparable bond that the three birds hold for one another.

Leroux

Leroux

There once was a little salamander - now, stop me if you’ve heard this one. They grew up among the mangroves and waterways of the Saffron Spore Islands, and were known by many names. “Hey kid” or “The little red one” were always Leroux’s favorites, as was any name that conveniently got them out of doing chores if they suddenly didn’t respond to it. Changing who you are comes as second nature to most of the dockfolk in the Saffrons - Leroux discovered that words, and their meaning, could change as well. Twisting meanings got the little salamander most things that they wanted… and a whole mess of trouble on the side. Eventually, those who Leroux had outwitted came back, and the adults of the docks besides. Accused of shirking their responsibilities and pushing work off onto others, Leroux  found out the consequences of twisting words too far.

Croquese

Croquese

Gruff and tough as her scaled hide, Croquese Green-Hide is well known to all the marsh and swamp and shore folk of the Morel Marshes and Saffron Spore Islands. Of course, only a scant few know her by anything other than “ol’ Auntie Croq”, a name which sends the not-at-all-old healer into fits of grumbling. Her age is hardly the only thing that proceeds her about her reputation - if Croquese comes upon one more superstitious marshfolk who quakes out something about not eating them, or fearfully asks if she’s some kind of witch, well - she’s not sure what she’ll do, but she sure as the Mysts knows that they’re not going to like it.

An image of Lumi the frog

Lumi

Luminescence, or Lumi to most, is a young frog who is holding true to herself amidst the murk and mire of life in the Morel Marshes - a place where news travels faster than a fish with a gator on his tail. A swamp full of amphibians is a place where gender doesn’t have overly much meaning, but for Lil’ Lumi, being feminine was more than a temporary deal. And despite the looks and the gossip, she’s as sure in herself as the swamp is silty, and folks can either accept it or get themselves lost in the bayou; she's too busy feeding her many siblings! Lumi relishes her time in the kitchen though, and finds quiet joy in looking after her family. And when dinners spill out-of-doors, why, she’s never one to turn away hungry mouths!

Auric

Auric

Plenty of the younger blood in the Lagoon think of the salt-stained old sea otter as cracked as the many strange “treasures” he collects, as he’s going over the fascinating details of some thingamabob or another. But woe betide any who disregard Auric’s many tales of sea witches and monsters lurking in the ravening deep! Mostly due to Auric throwing his favorite rock at them for daring to laugh, but still… woooooe! And when it comes to having just the right thing to prop up the grog table, or the last piece needed to batten down a hatch, Auric will be there with just the thing, and a smug smile to go along with it.
