Our Sustainable Practices

Our mission is to help people connect with themselves and the forests we hope to keep around for future generations. That's why we prioritize minimal processing and eco-friendly materials like cardboard and paper, ensuring our packaging is fully compostable to reduce our carbon footprint.

Local Partnerships

We proudly support local suppliers to reduce shipping distances and fuel consumption, fostering a stronger community bond.

Compostable Packaging

We promise to never use harmful plastics, metal lined one use tins, Styrofoam, or other harmful packaging practices just to save a couple bucks.

Promoting Native Landscapes

Our stories are based in a fantasy world that practices sustainable land management like food forests and native ecosystems.

Why Home Compostable Packaging?

Loose leaf tea is often packaged with plastics, mylar, or metals creating unnecessary waste that is difficult to recycle. Some brands may also boast compostable packaging, but these often contain materials that can only be commercially composted, a luxury many do not have access to. At Morelitea we ensure every part of our process is home compostable. Our labels are made from sugarcane and natural wax with algea or water based inks. Tea is packaged in cardboard tubes or certified home compostable zippered packaging for samples and bulk sales. If we wrap products in a clear or "foil" film we use cellophane - a natural plant fiber - not plastics. This increases our costs, especially as a small business, but we would rather have a smaller profit than contribute to a world becoming too hot and too polluted to grow tea.

Why Native?

Our family, descendants of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, firmly believes it is our individual responsibility to care for the earth beneath us as those before us did. We are visitors on the unceded ancestral land of the Duwamish and Coast Salish people, and while we live here we are committed to restoring the native landscape - starting with our own backyard.

Together, we can make a difference one cup of tea and one thoughtful gesture at a time.
