About Morelitea

Our family - the Morels - have been tea and fantasy lovers for as long as we have been alive. Stories were spun to pass the time on our living room couch or on hikes through the mountains. We’d dream up games to explore the many worlds we created together. And over time, it felt only natural to share that joy with others. Thus, Morelitea was born, not just to offer a good cup of tea, but to share art, story, and wonder.

We created the world of Mycorzha for our tea critters, inspired by our family values and years of shared adventures. But Morelitea is about more than just our stories, it’s about stories from everywhere. Mycorzha brings tales to life through short stories inspired by real-world cultures: Polynesian, Lakota, Cajun, Irish folklore, and many more. Beyond Mycorzha, we collaborate with indie authors who’ve built their own incredible worlds, each one steeped in that same spirit of home-brewed coziness.

Together, we invite you to explore the fan-tea-sy, a comforting escape filled with games, art, and most importantly, a good cup of tea.

Communitea

Morelitea works with artists, creators, and authors, as well as local farmers and USA suppliers whenever possible. We want to enrich not just ourselves, but the communities we live in and share our passions with. Below are just a few of the many other we collaborate with.

Sustainability

Loose leaf tea is often packaged with plastics or metals creating unnecessary waste. Some brands may also boast compostable packaging, but these often contain materials that can only be commercially composted, a luxury many do not have access to. At Morelitea we ensure every part of our process is home compostable. Our labels are made from sugarcane and natural wax with algea or water based inks. Tea is packaged in cardboard tubes or certified home compostable zippered packaging for samples and bulk sales. If we wrap products in a clear or "foil" film we use cellophane - a natural plant fiber - not plastics. This increases our costs, especially as a small business, but we would rather have a smaller profit than contribute to a world becoming too hot and too polluted to grow tea.

Support

We regularly donate funds from Morelitea to the Cheyenne River Youth Project, a non-profit that runs on the reservation our family is descended from. Federal initiatives such as blood quantum laws, residential schools, and immense poverty enforced on the Lakota separated us from our culture and heritage even though we still face the generational consequences of these issues. You will find many of the values of our family, and the Lakota people, throughout the stories we tell and we believe that the best way we can honor that is by uplifting art and children who are facing these same generational scars .
