The creatures of the Isles cannot easily get to Frostfire, the Crescent Mountains dangerous and near impossible to cross even for birds, the White Plateau dangerous both due to the Banished as well as the bitter cold winds and desolate waste, and the wall of thorns that grows against the Glow Lantern River makes entering from the south east border impossible. As such to much of the Isles it is little more then legend in their favorite stories. Jack seems to be the only critter able to survive around here, and no one knows how or how he manages to even arrive at the forests safely. He isn't one to speak much, so it all remains a mystery, or perhaps just a grand tale he has made up.

Other than Jack all residents here hide away in the nearby Starlit Stone Ruins. Now the ancient creaking bones of a once great and towering cityscape the Starlit Stone Ruins are all that remains of a time long since forgotten to the Mycorzhians of the south. Metal skyscrapers rust and collapse surrounded by towering defensive walls. Lights flicker on and off through the now half broken windows powered by rigged windmills on the building roofs in an attempt to make use of what was once a fully functional electric grid. The walls surrounding the city are all that defend it against the harsh northern winds and whatever beings lurk in the Frostfire Forest at it's edge. Nothing - and no one - good is to be found in the decay.

Few survive here and those that do must defend themselves just as much from the forest and lack of resources as their fellow critters. Those who live here are not only rejected by the southern isles, but also their fellow Banished, and even by the rag tag crews that reside to the northern Mossy Cup Lagoon. An amoral group of critters who value nothing but themselves and their own means. Yet even in this they find ways to survive, braving the forest for valuable rare mushrooms for black market trade, creating makeshift inventions to stave off the ever hungry dark that encroaches it's walls. To survive and meet trade demands the critters of the Ruins often must enter into the forest surrounding it. And they know of its dangers - shadows that come alive in the darkness, taking on the shapes and forms of grotesque, unnatural beings. While the danger is immense so is the desperation of those who live here, and the mushrooms that grow in the forests are highly valuable for trade on the Black Market. Left with little choice critters venture into the darkness and often never return.
